Born in 1864, t From the still-unsurpassed violence of Elektra to the quiet and witty leave-taking in Capriccio, Richard Strauss continually renewed both his own style and the genre of opera itself over the course of a career spanning half a century, during which he never lost his love for the human voice – especially soprano – or a keenly honed instinct for the marriage of music and drama. Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 - 8 September 1949) was a leading German composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras. He is known for his operas, which include Der Rosenkavalier and Salome; his Lieder, especially his Four Last Songs; and his tone poems and other orchestral works, such as Death and Transfiguration, Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks, Also sprach Zarathustra, An Alpine Richard Strauss, född 11 juni 1864 i München i Kungariket Bayern, död 8 september 1949 i Garmisch-Partenkirchen i Bayern i Tyskland, var en tysk kompositör.

Musik på Bosjö .In Richard Strauss' neoclassical Duet

Daphne is an opera in one act by Richard Strauss, his 13th opera, subtitled "A Bucolic Tragedy in One Act". The German libretto was by Joseph Gregor. The opera is based loosely on a myth from Ovid's Metamorphoses, and also includes elements taken from The Bacchae by Euripides. The opera premiered at Dresden on October 15, 1938, originally intended as a double bill with Friedenstag, but as the scale of Daphne grew, that idea was abandoned. It is a long opera, but it is never dull and from personal experience (with me and with a friend, whose first opera was 'Der Rosenkvalier') is one of Strauss' more accessible operas for listeners and audiences, if not for the players and singers, as wonderful as the music is it's very taxing to perform with Sophie and Baron Ochs' being particularly treacherous Tessitura-wise.
